iPad für alle (Studenten der … Universität)

Auf das habe ich schon gewartet: das iPad als das ultimative Aufgabenheft, Schulbuch, Taschenrechner, Videoabspielgerät, Kommunikationszentrum in der Schule. Dass es so rasch geht, wie die folgende Ankündigung zeigt, hätte ich aber nicht gedacht:

Die Setton Hill University erklärt, dass jeder neue Student im Herbst mit einen iPad als persönliches Arbeitswerkzeug ausgerüstet wird: “The iPad initiative kicks off the University’s Griffin Technology Advantage Program. This new program provides students with the best in technology and collaborative learning tools, ensuring that Seton Hill students will be uniquely suited to whatever careers they choose – even those that have not yet been created.”

Es wird noch besser: jeder Student erhält auch ein 13″ MacBook: “You will have complete access to these mobile technologies for classes as well as at all times for personal use. After two years, Seton Hill will replace your laptop with a new one – one that you can take with you when you graduate! With this technology at your fingertips, you can create a just-in-time learning environment, stay in touch with professors, advisors, and classmates, research any topic at any time, engage in hybrid and fully on-line courses, and access a whole host of Seton Hill technology services. In doing so, you will be learning the technological skills you’ll need in the twenty-first century workforce.” Da hat jemand im Management seine Hausaufgaben gemacht…

Und was noch gefällt: mit so einer zentralen Hardware wird das ePortfolio de facto Standard – jeder kann von überall jederzeit auf sein zentrales Repositorium aus Artefakten zurückgreifen und dieses kontinuierlich erweitern. Auch wenn das iPad technisch noch nicht überzeugen kann, es beflügelt die Fantasie und damit ganze Branchen, ihre Prozesse zu überdenken.
